In January-August 2015, the port of Klaipeda (Lithuania) handled 25.37 mln t of cargo (+10%, year-on-year), press center of the port authority says.
In August, the port handled 3.15 mln t of cargo (+16.8%, year-on-year) including 855,200 t of liquid bulk cargo (+48.6%), 910,000 t of general cargo (-3.9%, year-on-year) and 1,385,300 t of dry bulk cargo (+17.9%).
Klaipeda State Seaport is the northernmost ice–free port on the Eastern coast of the Baltic Sea. It is the most important and biggest Lithuanian transport hub, connecting sea, land and railway routes from East to West. The port’s throughput (including Butinge terminal) made 33.42 mln t in 2013.
