Ship Efficiency Awards winners announced

The winners of this year’s Ship Efficiency Awards, organised by Fathom Maritime Intelligence, have been announced, with Norsepower taking home the ‘Energy Efficiency Solution Award’.

The Ship Efficiency Awards, hosted by Lloyd’s Register, followed two days of lively discussion and debate at the fifth annual ‘Ship Efficiency: The Event’ held as part of London International Shipping Week 2015.

Norsepower Oy won the Energy Efficiency Solution Award, sponsored By SpecTec, for its Rotor Sail Solution, while Norled won the Environmental Technology Award, sponsored by Hempel, for its ferry Ampere – said to be the first to be driven by batteries alone.

“Ampere is trading in Sognefjord with 100% regularity and consumes 50% less energy compared with a traditional diesel ferry on the same route. It has proven to be a huge success for Norled,” said Claes Skat-Rørdam of award sponsor Hempel on behalf of the judges.

Winner of the Initiative Of The Year Award, sponsored By Marorka, was Marstal Navigationsskole and Partners for its Green Ferry Vision, E-Ferry, while Terntank won Sustainable Ship Operator Of The Year Award, sponsored By SulNOx Fuel Fusions, for its environmentally-friendly vessel M/T Ternvag.

Elsewhere, the judges voted Terragon Environmental Technologies as The One to Watch for its Micro Auto Gasification System (MAGS),and Carbon War Room Shipping Operation was awarded theOutstanding Contribution To Ship Efficiency Award.

The Ship Efficiency Awards will return for 2016, further information will be announced by Fathom Maritime Intelligence in coming weeks.
