Russian Maritime Register of Shipping informs that the Riyadh MoU is launching a Concentrated Inspection Campaign (CIC) to verify compliance with SOLAS-74 Chapter V (Safety of Navigation).
As stated in the Riyadh MoU press-release, the CIC purpose is to ensure that ships comply with the requirements of equipment such as AIS, VDR as well as to ensure that the Master and Watch Keeping Officers are familiar with this equipment.
The campaign period will be commenced from 1 October ending on 31 December 2015. Consequently, as from 1 October 2015, all the ships may be subject to additional checks by Port State Control Officers (PSCOs).
In order to assist ship’s crew for CIC and to prevent the ships from being detained, the relevant check-list to help Masters, Designated Persons Ashore and crew has been prepared by the Riyadh MoU Secretariat.
