Greencarrier Freight Services and CMA-CGM Scandinavia have entered into a long term collaboration project to reduce joint CO2 emissions by 30% in the run up to 2020, the company said in its press release.
The two parties say that the reduction will be achieved by developing new and sustainable logistics solutions that will also be made available on the market.
One example is a joint solution involving sea transport to Gothenburg and further transport to Torsvik, where trucks have now been replaced by rail transport. This change has already resulted in a 70% reduction in CO2 emissions.
He also pointed out that the two parties have well-defined long-term climate objectives and this makes it easier to develop good solutions that can be offered directly to the market.
On an annual basis, at least two new sustainable logistics solutions will be developed in order to replace traditional solutions and reduce their environmental impact. Additionally, there will be mutual development involving environmental issues will take place via joint skill sharing.
CMA-CGM Scandinavia will utilise parts of the Greencarriers Green Evaluation (GGE) and Greenoffice concepts.
Greencarriers Green Evaluation is a tool used to classify partners in sustainability and increase collaboration with the most sustainable partners. Greenoffice is a tool used to increase sustainability at the office level.
