Hydromec Group (Russia) and Aker Arctic Inc (Finland) have signed a strategic partnership agreement today, September 22, 2015, in the framework of NEVA-2015, the International Maritime Exhibition and Conferences of Russia.
As IAA PortNews journalist reports, the agreement covering the period through 2019 provides for joint development and promotion of ice class dredging ships with complimentary ice functions for operation in the Arctic and Far North areas.
The Companies believe that such designs will be quite in demand in both Russian and international markets in view of northern ports development.
Zavod Hydromekhanizatsii (Hydromec) is Russia’s leader in production and designing of dredgers. Hydromec is a vertically integrated shipbuilding enterprise, comprising metallurgical, fabrication and machining divisions.
The Hydromec shipyard builds dredgers with pumping capacity ranging 100 to 8,000 cmb / hour and depths of up to 35 m. Since 1950, the company has manufactured more than 1,350 dredgers of different types and designs.
Aker Arctic Technology Inc (Aker Arctic) is an independent company that specializes in the development, design, engineering and testing services for the ice-going vessels, icebreakers and offshore marine structures and ports. Aker Arctic’s head office is located in Helsinki Finland.
