Laboratory of Main Propulsion Unit has been opened today, September 25, at the Admiral Makarov State University of Maritime and Inland Shipping. The Lboratory has been equipped through the sponsorship of the University’s strategic partners - Gazprom Marketing & Trading (London, Great Britain, Singapore), Sovcomflot Group and shipping company Dynagas Ltd. (Greece), University’s press center says.
The new laboratory is equipped with a simulator complex including propulsion diesels inended for operation on liquid and gas fuel. The prototype is the propulsion plant of SCF Veliky Novgorod with the software supplied by Transas.
The simulator was developed in compliance with International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watch-keeping for Seafarer, IMO standards and certified by NIPPON KAIJI KYOKAI (Japan).
The establishment of this laboratory, the forth one at the University, was initiated by Gazprom Marketing & Trading and supported by Sovcomflot.
Admiral Makarov State University of Maritime and Inland Shipping was set up through reorganization of two large industry-focused higher educational institutions - St.-Petersburg State University of Waterway Communications (SPSUWC) and Admiral Makarov State Maritime Academy (SMA) in the form of affiliation of the Academy to the University. Makarov University cadets have their sailing practice at the vessels of Sovcomflot, Stena Bulk, Dynagas, Teekay, TMS Cardiff Gas.
