European Cargo Logistics GmbH (Luebeck, Germany) opens its office in Saint-Petersburg (photo)

On November 11, 2015 European Cargo Logistics GmbH (ECL, 100% subsidiary of Luebecker Hafen-Gesellschaft mbH) opened the office of ECL Rus LLC in Saint-Petersburg, IAA PortNews reporter says.

The ceremony was attended by Bernd Saxe, Mayor of Luebeck; Sebastian Jürgens, LHG CEO; Jörg Ulrich, ECL GmbH CEO; Igor Lonsky, Deputy Chairman of Saint-Petersburg Government’s  Committee for Foreign Relations; Dmitry Gribkov, ECL Rus CEO; etc.

“The target of our company is to increase cargo flow via the port of Luebeck and to boost cargo flow from Russia serviced by ECL GmbH” Dmitry Gribkov told IAA PortNews.

According to him, the Company is going to develop in both import and export segments.

The priority of the Company’s activities is door-to-door multimodal transportation between Europe and Russia. The Company provides the entire range of services and provides its customers with the possibility to use its storage facilities in Germany.

Bernd Saxe, Mayor of Luebeck, marked extensive opportunities for cooperation between Saint-Petersburg and Luebeck.

He emphasized that peaceful and comfortable environment is essential for commercial activities. “In this context, I’m skeptical about political sanctions as they do not contribute to more peaceful, stable and safer relations worldwide,” Bernd Saxe said.

The Mayor of Luebeck greeted the opening of ECL GmbH office in Saint-Petersburg as a “significant economical step”.

Igor Lonsky, Deputy Chairman of Saint-Petersburg Government’s Committee for Foreign Relations, said that mutual interest of the two countries also relate to improvement of port infrastructure, personnel training and development of common approaches to environmental safety of operations and services.

According to Jörg Ulrich, ECL GmbH deals mainly with imported forest products transported from the port of Luebeck to other European ports by different types of transport including railway and motor transport. Jörg Ulrich says his company is also interested in the development of backward transportation.  

European Cargo Logistics GmbH (ECL, 100% subsidiary of Luebecker Hafen-Gesellschaft mbH) provides door-to-door logistic services. Luebecker Hafen-Gesellschaft mbH operates the port of Luebeck owned by the city.
