The successful cooperation between Bore and the Finnish marine engineering company Norsepower continues, Bore said in its press release.
The first prototype of the Rotor Sail Solution was installed on M/V Estraden in 2014 and the second was installed onboard the vessel in November 2015, with the aim to generate further fuel efficiency onboard the vessel.
Norsepower’s Rotor Sail Solution optimizes air pressure through the Magnus effect, which helps the vessel to conserve energy and fuel, without comprimising on voyage speed. M/V Estraden is now equipped with two 18m x 3m Norsepower Rotor Sails, which have a maximum output of 2MW of main-engine equivalent auxiliary wind propulsion power.
