The annual volume of car loadings across the Russian Railway (RZD) network in 2015 totaled 1,2 billion tonnes, or 1% lower than in 2014, the state-owned rail monopoly said.
According to RZD rail freight statistics, the volume handled includes: 323,3 m tonnes of coal (+ 2.5% y-o-y); 11,1 m tonnes of coke (- 6%); 251.2 million tonnes of crude oil / oil products (- 2.1%); 109 million tonns of iron ore and manganese (+ 0.4%); 71,4 m tonnes of ferrous metals (- 0.6%);15 m tonnes of iron scrap (- 10.1%); 51,4 m tonnes of chemical and mineral fertilizers (+ 4.4%); 28,6 m tonnes of cement (- 11.1%); 39,5 m tonnes of timber (+ 2%); 18,7 m tonnes of grain (+ 2.7%); 130,7 m tonnes of construction materials (-7.4%); 20,4 million tonnes of ferrous and non-sulfur raw materials (+ 6.1%); 25 m tonnes of chemicals and soda (- 1.3%); 34,9 m tonnes of industrial raw materials and molding materials (- 1.8%).
In 2015 freight traffic amounted to 2.3043 trillion tariff t/km (+ 0.2%), the traffic volume taking into account unladen car mileage was 2.9544 trillion t/km (unchanged y-o-y).
According to rail freight provisional statistics in December 2015, the volume of car loadings on the RZD network was 104.3 million tonnes, which 1.1% up on December 2014, while freight turnover for same period rose year-on-year by 1.6% to 201.9 billion tariff t/km. Freight traffic volume, taking into account unladen car mileage in Dec. 2015 increased by 1.3% to 258.4 billion t/km.
