In 2015, the turnover of OJSC “Sea Port of Saint-Petersburg” (SP SPb) amounted to 7.9 mln tons which is by 2.9% less than in 2014, the port’s press center says.
Total volumes of general cargoes in the company grew by 4.5% up to 6.4 mln tons mainly due to the growth of all types of handled metals. In particular, due to increase of export volumes handling of ferrous metals in SP SPb grew by 12% and amounted to 2.5 mln tons. Due to increase of export shipments of aluminum handling volumes of non-ferrous metals grew by 15.6%, up to 1.4 mln tons.
SP SPb increased also handling volumes of refrigerated cargoes– deep-frozen meat and fish. Within the reporting period these volumes grew 2.3 times in comparison with the previous year and amounted to 67.6 th. tons. Handling volumes of wooden pellets grew by 31%, up to 161.1 th. tons, mineral fertilizers in big-bags – by 69%, up to 337 th. tons, which was caused by the fact that the port provided required conditions for accumulation of shipment lots of this cargo in package in accordance with the clients demands.
Handling of ro-ro cargoes decreased by 29%, to 404.2 th. tons due to reduction of import volumes mainly of cargoes in small shipment lots delivered by ferry lines. And the annual amount of handled motor vehicles in SP SPb increased by 10%, up to 32.3 th. units.
During the year project, off-gauge and heavy-lift cargoes, cargoes for agricultural industry and other general cargoes were handled at the berths of SP SPb.
Handling volumes of loose and bulk cargoes decreased by 26%, to 1.5 mln tons, mainly due to reduction of handling volumes of mineral fertilizers. Handling volumes of fertilizers in bulk decreased by 56%, to 0.5 mln. tons – because of movement of part of the cargo flow to the specialized terminals in Russia and Baltic states. Handling of alumina at the berths of SP SPb increased by 8%, up to 0.8 mln tons. Besides, in the 4th quarter of 2015 the company started to handle raw sugar, having reloaded 54.4 th. tons.
