Klaipeda Seaport cargo turnover increases by 10,9 pct. to 3,34 mln tn in January of 2016

In January of 2016 Klaipeda Seaport cargo handling turnover increased by 10,9 pct. to 3,34 mln tn, i.e. more by 328,2 thou. tn comparing with results achieved in January of 2015. It has been absolutely the best January result reached in Klaipeda Seaport. This result is higher by 5,14 pct. or by 163,1 thou. tn comparing with the previous January record achieved in 2011 when the cargo overall turnover totaled 3,18 mln tn.

According to the rankings of the change of cargo throughput estimated in percent (10,9 pct) and in tons (328,2 tnou. tn) the Seaport of Klaipeda occupied the 1-st standing in the list of the Eastern coast Baltic Seaports. In January of 2016 the cargo handling turnover increased in the Seaports of Klaipeda, Ust-Luga, Butinge and Liepaja. The cargo throughput in the remaining Seaports dramatically dropped down, especially in the Seaport of Ventspils – as many as by 29,3 pct. or by 757,0 thou. tn.

Year-on-year changes of overall turnover in January of 2016 according to cargo types:
 Liquid cargo – 1 119,6 thou tn were handled, +33,5 pct. or +281,2 thou. tn yoy;
 General cargo – 847,9 thou. tn were handled, -4,9 pct. or -43,7 thou. tn yoy;
 Dry and bulk cargo – 1 371,1 thou. tn were handled, +7,1 pct. or +90,7 thou. tn yoy.
