Dmitry Rogozin insists of placing shipbuilding orders with domestic shipyards (photo)
Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Dmitry Rogozin has strongly criticized shipping companies which had recently placed orders with foreign shipyards, IAA PortNews correspondednt reports from the meeting of RF Government’s Marine Board held today in Sevastopol.
“I expressly prohibit taking shipbuilding orders out of the country”, said Dmitry Rogozin.
According to Dmitry Rogozin, it is strategically significant to ensure loading of domestic shipyards. He said that naval yards’ facilities would start becoming available in Russia after 2020. Therefore it is necessary to plan their loading right now.
Dmitry Rogozin said that governmental commission for import substitution would control awarding of shipbuilding contracts to Russian companies.
“Purchasing of equipment in foreign countries is possible only upon obtaining of approval from RF Government,” said Dmitry Rogozin.
By the order of Russia’s Security Council RF Government will soon introduce amendments into the regulatory framework so that awarding of shipbuilding contracts for more than RUB 1 bln to foreign shipyard would require an approval of the governmental commission.
