Throughput of port Yeisk up 14.3% to 848,000 t in QI’2016

In January-March 2016, the port of Yeisk handled 875,000 t of cargo (+14.3, year-on-year), Harbour Master of port Yeisk Sergei Grechkin told IAA PortNews.

Grain transshipment increased by 30.4% to 428,100 t, coal and coke – up 21.8% to 190,700 t.

Exports climbed by 21% to 813,000 t, transit – up 43.2% to 54,000 t, short sea traffic – down 5.4 times to 8,000 t. No import cargo was handled at the port in QI’2016 while in January-March 2015 the port handled 15,500 t of import cargo.

Bunker sales at the port totaled 6,100 t (-22%, year-on-year).

In the reported period, the port authorities registered 233 arrivals and 230 departures against 208 arrivals and 217 departures registered a year ago.

“More favorable ice situation in the first quarter of 2016 as compared with that of 2015 resulted in more calls (+ 4.6%). Besides, the number of larger vessels increased (+14.5%), hence the growth of throughput by 14.3%”, explained Sergei Grechkin.

The sea port of Yeisk located in the Krasnodar Territory in the southwestern part of Taganrog Bay of the Azov Sea. Currently, the port has 12 cargo berths and one passenger berth with two oil terminals completed recently. The port is accessible to ships with a draft of 4.5 m and length of 150 m.
