Damage to Kerch Bridge caused by Turkish dry cargo ship has been revised

The damage to the Kerch Bridge caused by the incident with Turkish cargo ship Lira has been revised. According to FSI Uprdortaman, repair of the damaged support structure No 80 has been estimated at RUB 35.3 mln. The examination carried out at the site showed that the support structures next to the damaged on do not require any repair.

According to SGM-Most LLC, on March 19, 2016 at about 23:32, Turkish cargo ship Lira sailing under the flag of Panama along the Kerch-Yenikalsky canal from the Black Sea to the port of Taganrog crashed into the bearing support structure of the bridge under construction which caused the bridge damage. 

The damage to the Kerch Bridge caused by the incident was preliminary estimated at RUB 120 mln including possible repair of three support structures – NoNo 79, 80, 81.

The statement of claim for RUB 35.3 mln was filed in the Arbitration Court of the Rostov Region on April 13, 2016. The arrested ship will stay at the seaport of Taganrog till the issue of damage compensation is solved.

Repair works are said not to affect the terms of delivery.
