Expert says 103 mln DWT of newbuildings will be delivered to the global market in 2016, 88.9 mln DWT – in 2017

Global shipbuilding is represented by 423 shipyards in 2016, down from 992 in 2009, IAA PortNews correspondent cites Martin Stopford, President of Clarkson Research Services Ltd, as saying at the meeting dedicated to the 27th International Maritime Trade Fair SMM-2016. He says this year will see the delivery of 103 mln DWT, in 2017 – 88.9 mln DWT. According to the expert, annual deliveries from 2006 to 2015 were about 112 mln DWT on the average.

The share of China in total deadweight delivered in 2014 was 37%, S. Korea - 35%, Japan - 19%, Europe - 2%.
