On July 19, 2016 the employees of OJSC “Sea Port of Saint-Petersburg” (SP SPb) took part in the campaign on cleaning the island from the trash, says the Port's press center. Environmental campaign was arranged by public environmental movement “No More Trash” and was held close to the port berths – at the beach of the Kanonerskiy island from the side of Gulf of Finland. Within several hours port employees collected 18 bags of trash. It is mainly plastic, glass and aluminum which will be sent for recycling.
A year ago SP SPb arranged its own environmental campaign at the Putilovskaya embankment of the Kanonerskiy island – “Clean Island”. During that campaign employees of SP SPb collected 100 tyres and over 110 bags with plastic bottles and glass.
For several decades care of environment has been the priority sphere in the development of SP SPb. The company regularly transfers funds for protection of port water area of the Gulf of Finland, air protection, safe handling of wastes and continuous work of port ecological facilities.
