Anatoly Balakin appointed as Managing Director of port Posiet

Mechel says Anatoly Balakin has been appointed Managing Director of commercial port Posiet (part of Mechel Groip’s transport division administered by Mecheltrans Management Company LLC).

The Company says Anatoly Balakin will lead the work on further implementation of the programme on retrofitting and upgrading of port facilities and adjoining infrastructure facilities so that loading/unloading complex could reach its designed capacity. 

Anatoly Balakin graduated from Odessa National Maritime University; from 2009 he worked as railway transport dispatcher  of at Temryuk-Sotra CJSC; in January 2010 - December 2012 – senior dispatcher at Port Mechel-Temryuk LLC; in December 2012 - September 2016 – Deputy Managing Director on Operations at Trade Port Posiet JSC.

Trade Port Posiet, situated on the Japanese Sea coast south of Vladivostok, handles coal supplies to Pacific Asia. It is linked by rail to the Trans-Siberian Railroad, north-eastern China and North Korea.

Posiet is a useful terminal to export coal mined at the deposits owned by Mechel’s enterprises of Yakutugol and Yuzhny Kuzbass, as well as at the Elga coal field.

Mechel is an international mining and steel company which employs 66,000 people. Its products are marketed in Europe, Asia, North and South America, Africa. Mechel unites producers of coal, iron ore concentrate, steel, rolled products, ferroalloys, heat and electric power. All of its enterprises work in a single production chain, from raw materials to high value-added products.
