Marseille Fos plans to develop data centres

On 13 September, Renaud Paubelle, Director of infrastructures and business development and Member of the Executive Board of the Port of Marseille Fos, and Fabrice Coquio, President of Interxion France, presented the entire maritime and trade press with a plan to develop a data centres on the Marseille harbours that will complement the existing offering in Marseille (Joliette).
 
The data centre will be located on the site of the former Fouré Lagadec workshops and the submarine base. It will offer a secure, scalable, and highly connected environment. Its location, with direct access to the submarine cables to Africa, the Middle East and Asia (13 cables are already connected to the city), will make Marseille a major connectivity gateway.

The data centres host and will host numerous telecom operators, connectivity providers including European terrestrial network providers. Customers (telecom, Internet, CDN-Content Delivery Network, social media and cloud) from all over the world will be more connected than ever and will benefit from appropriate, fast services on the continent and also enjoy competitive prices.

The installation of the data centres of Interxion, a key new technologies and big data player, the international reach of the Port of Marseille Fos will be extended, particularly as regards smart ports.
