The most active phase of Russia’s Arctic development will begin in 2020 – 2022, IAA PortNews correspondent cites Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Dmitry Rogozin as saying at the joint meeting of the State Commission on Arctic Development and RF Government’s Marine Board.
Dmitry Rogozin says the more projects are under implementation in the Arctic the more risks they entail. At least 10 emergency rescue centers will appear in the Arctic for risk minimization. Four of them have already been established.
The Deputy Prime Minister also said that the floating nuclear power plant would be placed at Pevek (Chukotka) by 2019.
According to the report of Igor Panin, Head of the Emergency Ministry's North-West Region Center, the safety resources deployed in the Arctic today number 18,000 of personnel and over 1,800 units of equipment.
