In January-November 2016, Commercial Sea Port Yuzhny (Ukraine) handled 36,239,800 t, down 17.8%, year-on-year, says Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority.
According to the statement, this makes 30% of total throughput of Ukraine’s seaports (120,717,900 t).
In the 11-month period, the growth was shown by the following sectors: metal - 89,400 t (+73.1%), containers – 73,800 TEUs (+51.5%), oil – 944,100 (+7.4%), other – 1,249.1 (+41.3%).
Transshipment export cargo totaled 27,117,900 (74.8% of the total volume), import - 4,392,500 t (12.1%), transit – 3,457,400 (9.6%), coastal trade cargo – 1,272,100 (3.5%).
Yuzhny port is located at the north-western coast of the Black Sea, in ice-free Maly Adzhalyksky (Grigorievsky) estuary, 30 km from Odessa port. The port’s approach channel is 3 miles long and 18.5 meters deep. The port’s major stevedoring company is the state-owned Commercial Sea Port Yuzhny.
