LNG Gorskaya signs agreement on construction of LNG bunkering center in Estonia

LNG Gorskaya Overseas Ou and the authorities of Mõntu Harbour (Estonia) have signed an Agreement of Intent to have an LNG bunkering center located in the harbor, LNG Gorskaya told IAA PortNews.

The center will comprise a floating LNG storage facility (5,000 cbm in capacity) and a berth for mooring of vessels that are to be bunkered from a 1,300-cbm tanker capable of supplying fuel both in harbours and at offshore facilities of Estonian and Latvian ports.

Mõntu Harbour center, just like a similar facility in Lübeck (Germany) being developed by LNG Gorskaya Overseas Ou and its partners, will be built in the framework of a programme on development of the LNG bunkering infrastructure in the Baltic ports of the EU.

Gas infrastructure of the center can be used for electric power generation and supply, for land transport fuelling and for utility gas supplies.

The project totally estimated at EUR 33 mln will be financed by the parties’ resources and through raising of funds, also under the programmes on the development of EU transport infrastructure, CEF-T in particular. The Agreement was signed by Kirill Lyats, Director General of LNG Gorskaya Overseas Ou, and Mihkel Undrest, Executive Director of Mõntu Harbour.

LNG Gorskaya Overseas Ou is a partnership structure of Russia’s LNG Gorskaya LLC building a floating LNG production facility in Saint-Petersburg. The facility will be able to annually process 1.968 bln cubic meters of natural gas into 1,260 thou tonnes of LNG.

Mõntu Harbour is located at the southern top of the Saaremaa island in the Baltic Sea, at the entrance to the Gulf of Riga with its ports of Latvia and Estonia, which is also not far from the Swedish coast. The Harbour can accommodate vessels of up to 7,500 gross tones.
