Arctic Mining Company and Trest Zapsibgidrostroy will create port infrastructure for development of mineral deposits in Russian Arctic

Arctic Mining Company (run by VostokCoal which is implementing a comprehensive development project for the Taimyr Coal Basin) and Trest Zapsibgidrostroy signed an Agreement of Intent to create port infrastructure for the development of mineral deposits in Russian Arctic, IAA PortNews correspondent reports from the IV International Arctic Forum  ‘Arctic – Territory of Dialogue’ (29-30 March 2017, Arkhangelsk).

The Agreement foresees expanding cooperation on existing projects and lays the groundwork for the construction of new port infrastructure facilities.

VostokUgol Management Company (VostokCoal) which is managing Arctic Mining Company, is implementing the project on development of the Taimyr Coal Basin including the development of deposits and the construction of deepwater ports. Port Chaika is already under construction in the western part of the Taimyr peninsula, where Trest Zapsibgidrostroy is the general contractor for the design and construction of hydraulic engineering structures.

The port will have a capacity of over 10 mln t of coal per year. To ensure the declared shipments, the berths are designed to accommodate Arc 4 vessels (ice class of Russian Maritime Register of Shipping) of up to 76,000 t in deadweight.

The port will operate  round-the-year with ice escort services to be provided during the winter navigation period.

Limited Liability Company Trest Zapsibgidrostroy is a leading Russian company in the field of design and construction of hydraulic engineering structures and transport infrastructure facilities with application of welded pipe sheet piles (WPSP), a unique technology patented by the company.
