The agreement to create shipbuilding cluster in the Arkhangelsk Region was signed by the Regional Government, Association of Clusters and Technoparks and United Shipbuilding Corporation on 21 April 2017 in the framework of the II Caspian International Technological Forum, says press center of the Astrakhan Region Government.
The document was signed by Astrakhan Region Governor Aleksandr Zhilkin, USC Vice-President Yevgeny Zagorodny and ACT Director Andrei Shpilenko.
The shipbuilding cluster is supposed to integrate enterprises of different profiles: Production facilities, design bureaus, service companies, educational institutions, etc.
According to Andrei Shpilenko, state support measures expected at all phases of production localization within the cluster territory will encourage investments into the industry.
Association of Clusters and Technoparks is Russia’s leading social and business organisation integrating the infrastructure of commercial production and high technologies with the purpose to improve the environment of technological developments and fulfillment of the country’s scientific and industrial potential. Established in 2011, the Association numbers more than 55 organisations and 38 constituent entities of the Russian Federation.
United Shipbuilding Corporation (USC OJSC) is the largest shipbuilding company in Russia. It was set up in 2007 with 100% federal ownership. The holding comprises about 40 companies and organizations (major shipbuilding and shiprepairing companies as well as leading design bureaus).
