In the 1st quarter of 2017 JSC “Sea Port of Saint-Petersburg” (SPSP, a part of UCL Holding) spent 3.6 mln roubles for implementation of the ecological action plan. According to the port’s PR Department, the funds were used for preservation of the Finnish Gulf water area, protection of atmospheric air, safe waste management and trouble-free operation of the port’s environmental facilities.
The company carried out control over the use of sanitary protection and coastal areas, monitored the quality of natural waters, performed maintenance works at water treatment facilities. SPSP took atmospheric air samples on the boundary of sanitary protection zone.
In order to comply with the waste management statutory requirements SPSP ensured timely removal of waste from the company’s territory.
JSC “Sea Port of Saint-Petersburg” (a member of UCL Port – stevedoring division of the international transportation group UCL Holding) – is the largest provider of cargo handling services for all types of dry cargoes in the Greater Port of Saint-Petersburg. It operates several state-of-the-art multi-purpose terminals for handling of general and bulk cargoes, as well as specialized terminals for ro-ro and container cargoes. In 2016 the total turnover of the company amounted to 7.3 mln tons.
