Nevsky Shipyard launches dry cargo vessel of Project RSD 49, Pola Sevastiana (photo)

On 29 June 2017, Nevsky Shipyard launched the single-deck dry cargo vessel of mixed “river-sea” navigation “Pola Sevastiana” (Project ORSD49), IAA PortNews correspondent reports. The construction is provided by the order of LLC "Pola Rise" (Russia).

The ceremony was attended by the following officials: Yevgeny Kuznetsov, Director General, Nevsky Shipyard; Anatoly Belozerov, President, Pola-Group; Rishat Bagautdinov, Deputy Chairman, Russian Chamber of Shipping; Vladimir Kasyanenko, shareholder, Nevsky Shipyard; Gennady Veselov, Director General, Pola Rise; Nikolai Avtutov, Prspective Development Director, Marine Engineering Bureau; Eduard Yevgrafov, Head of Baltic Branch, Russian Maritime Register of Shipping; Yunus Ibragimov, Head of Kirovsky Munisipality, Leningrad Region; Maxim Kulakov, Deputy Head of Supplier Management Department, State Transport Leasing Company.

Yekaterina Kasyanenko served as the ship’s god mother.

Yevgeny Kuznetsov, Director General of Nevsky Shipyard said the ship was named after St. Sevastiana.

“It is the tenth vessel in the series being built by the shipyard. This dry cargo carrier has a distinctive feature - an ability to carry, apart from bulk cargo, oversized loads and containers, which is an attractive feature from economic point of view. The ship will be operated at inland water ways and enter coastal sea areas”, said the head of the shipyard. 

According to him, the vessel will be delivered to the customer upon completion of some outfitting works and mooring trials and will be put into operation in about three months.

The ship was designed by CJSC Marine Engineering Bureau.

The contracts were signed by Nevsky Shipyard, State Transport Leasing Company and shipping company Pola Rose in December 2016.

Nevsky Shipyard, LLC is located 40 km away from Saint-Petersburg in the town of Schliesselburg on the left bank of the river Neva.  The Shipyard is one of the oldest enterprises of water transport in the northwest of Russia which started its shipbuilding activity since 1952. Nowadays the Shipyard builds sea and river vessels of various types and purposes and carries out all kinds of ship repair works. The slipway for vessels rising allows to launch and lift for repairs the vessels up to 150 meters long and dock weight up to 4,800 tons.
