On 20 July 2017, Municipal Enterprise MetroElectroTrans and Passenger Port of Volgograd signed the contract for the sale of the port’s fleet for RUB 32.5 mln. According to the local media, MetroElectroTrans acquired 40 units: 10 passenger ships, floating landing stages, pontoons and other facilities including a repair base on the left shore of the Volga river.
“MUE MetroElectroTrans has become a lawful owner of Volgograd’ river fleet. All vessels of the private carrier and related infrastructure has been handed over to the municipal enterprise” Aleksei Volotskov, deputy head of the city, told V1.ru.
The information about the decision of the inter-agency committee on improvement of passenger transportation quality to hand over the river fleet of Volgograd to MUE MetroElectroTrans was announced on 11 July 2017. The committee also set a task to hold audit and consider variants of the fleet renovation.
