Volga Shipping carried 2 million tonnes of grain 2 million tonnes YTD

Since January 2017, the vessels of Volga Shipping Company (UCL Holding) have transported 2,1 million tonnes of grain, which was named a record 25-year high in the Volga Shipping’s history, the fleet operator said in a press release.

Grain cargo is delivered by ten RSD44-design bulk cargo and twenty Volgo-Don class ships from the ports of Azov, Rostov-on-Don, Yeysk, and also the ports of Don to the Port Kavkaz. The above ports transship export grain cargo onto sea-going ships, which then proceed towards the ports in the Middle East, Asia and Africa. Russia exports grain to more than 50 countries.

Volga Shipping Company JSC, one of the largest shipping companies in Russia, was founded in 1843. It performs cargo transportation along the rivers and lakes of the country. In 2016, the company transported 5.2 million tonnes. The company branches, including the Bor and the Volzhsky fleet maintenance bases, as well as shipyards - Borremflot JSC, Pamyat’y Parizhskoy Communy JSC and Voznesenye Fleet Repair and Operation Base JSC are the Volga Shipping ship repair areas. The Company is a part of VBTH – shipping division of Universal Cargo Logistics Holding, international transportation group consolidating a number of Russian railway, stevedoring and logistic companies (the majority stakeholder of VBTH). The division comprises North Western Shipping Company, V.F.Tanker, a number of shipbuilding and cruise assets.
