Navigation season closed in Ob inland waterways basin
The 2017 navigation season has been officially closed in the Ob inland waterways basin, the Rosmorrechflot press office said.
The FBD Ob Inland Waterways Basin authorities have completed all works related to maintenance of inland waterways, of navigable waterways and hydroengineering and related infrastructure facilities.
The Ob Inland Waterways Basin's total length is 7,245.0 km.
During the 2017 navigation season, the basin administration to perform maintanance deployed seven dredges and one floating crane with total capacity of 7640 cbm. The maintenance dredging resulted in 4.8 million cbm of excavated materials.
In the 2017 navigation season: a 3,831.0-km-long inland waterways stretch was equipped with navaids (in 2016 - 3,763.5 km), a 3,284.0-km-long stretch had projected dimensions. The remaining (3,414.0 km) stretches did not have navigational aid equipment.
Ship transits through the Novosibirsk lock was performed from May 10 through September 21. During the season the basin shipping channels carried out 478 lockage operations, with 606 ships serviced during transit (2016 - 439 / 522).
The Ob River is the area of responsibility of two basin authorities subordinated to the Federal Agency for Marine and River Transport. FBD Ob Inland Waterways Basin Authority manages waterways along the Ob River to the south of Sosnino. Geographical area: Altai Territory, Altai Republic, Novosibirsk Region and Tyumen Region.
The internal waterways along the Ob River to the north of the village of Sosnino – the AOR of FBD Ob-Irtysh Inland Waterways Basin. Geographical area: the Omsk Region, the Tyumen Region, the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Area, the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous District and the Sverdlovsk Region.
