Caterpillar to showcase innovative technology and expanded product portfolio at International Workboat Show
Caterpillar Marine to showcase innovative technology at the 2017 International Workboat Show including demonstrations of the new Multi-Engine Optimizer (MEO) tool, which leverages proprietary performance data and patented control algorithms to provide intelligence for power management systems, the company said in its press release.
“MEO is designed to operate in conjunction with any system, new or retrofit,” said Theodore Wiersema, business process manager for Caterpillar Marine. “The PLC-based system contains proprietary performance data and control algorithms providing the highest overall fuel efficiency. The cost savings can be quite significant depending on the load profile of vessel and the types of engines on the bus,” said Wiersema.
In addition to MEO, subject matter experts will be at the Caterpillar exhibit to demonstrate Cat® Asset Intelligence, the advanced, automated vessel monitoring system based on nearly 40 million hours of marine data and analytics. Unlike technologies that only monitor individual equipment performance, or focus only on very specific operational parameters, Cat AI provides monitoring and reliability-centered, advanced analytics for any critical system on the vessel, Cat or non-Cat equipment, allowing users to make condition-based maintenance decisions and operational refinements.
The Caterpillar exhibit will have product experts on site to talk about our entire brand portfolio — Cat, EMD and MaK. The booth will also feature presentations and a virtual showroom focusing on a variety of topics including Selective Catalyst Reduction (SCR) technology, the single solution for meeting Tier 4 emission regulations across the Marine industry at Caterpillar. Experts will be on hand to discuss the latest product offering, the Cat® C32 Marine Propulsion engine featuring SCR technology to meet U.S. EPA Tier 4 final and IMO III emission standards.
Cat Reman experts will be on hand to talk about the updated portfolio of Cat Reman products in the Marine industry. Ranging from 300 to 700 bhp, Cat Reman engines offer maximum value by providing improved productivity and efficiency at a fraction of the cost of new, while reducing impact on the environment.
A series of Caterpillar informational sessions are being offered throughout the Workboat show. The first to be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, November 20 will provide education on obtaining financial assistance through the Mitigation Trust Fund to cover costs associated with Cat emission upgrade kits. Another session will be held on Thursday, November 30 to discuss SCR the preferred solution for Caterpillar Marine Tier 4 Solutions. Also on Thursday will be a technical discussion on the latest Caterpillar Hybrid Propulsion Solutions. The Cat Marine Hybrid System optimizes the use of currently available components and operates diesel engines at peak efficiency. For customers, this means significant reductions in owning and operating costs, with decreased fuel consumption and maximized reliability.
The 2017 International Workboat Show to be held November 29 – December 1 at the Morial Convention Center in New Orleans, Louisiana.
