The port of Murmansk is forecasted to handle 51 mln t this year with its throughput expected to reach 71 mln t by 2020, IAA PortNews correspondent cites Murmansk Region Governor Marina Kovtun , as saying at the 11th International Forum and Exhibition “Transport Week” held in Moscow.
According to the Governor, transshipment of dry cargo will reach 22 mln t while design capacity of the terminals on the eastern coast of the Kola Bay is 23 mln t per year including 19 mln t of dry cargo. That is the evidence of overloading and the need for the development of port infrastructure on the western coast of the Kola Bay.
