Volga Shipping Company improves transport safety of its fleet

As part of transport safety policy of Volga Shipping Company (part of UCL Holding), 34 motor ships of VSC have been equipped with security cameras. According to the company's press release, new equipment has been installed to prevent unlawful interference or it arranging.

The installation of the cameras on ships of Volgo-Don type, Project RSD44 and pusher tugs was performed during the internavigation period in full compliance with legal requirements under technical supervision of Russian River Register.

Security cameras, microphones, video display units and video recorders installed on the ships were made in Russia, certified and approved by Russian River Register.

Basing on the results of actual operation of the newly installed equipment, Volga Shipping Company is going to continue its work on further improvement of it video surveillance systems.

Volga Shipping OJSC is one of the biggest transport companies in Russia. It was founded in 1843. The company transports cargoes along rivers and lakes of the country. In 2017, Volga Shipping carried 6.5 million tonnes of cargo.

The Company is a part of VBTH, shipping division of Universal Cargo Logistics Holding, international transportation group consolidating a number of Russian railway, stevedoring and logistic companies (the majority stakeholder of VBTH). The division also comprises North Western Shipping Company, V.F.Tanker and Okskaya Sudoverf shipyard.
