Russian Maritime Register of Shipping (RS, Register) specifies the requirements of the Rules for the Classification and Construction of Sea-Going Ships relating to fishing vessels upon the results of these requirements application during review of plan approval documentation.
The provisions of para 2.1.5.9, Section 2 "Structural Fire Protection" of Part VI "Fire Protection" relating to location of emergency escape exits from incinerator rooms shall not be applied to fishing vessels.
Section 3 "Fire-Fighting Equipment and Systems" of Part VI "Fire Protection" has been amended as follows: for fishing vessels of less than 500 gross tonnage, it is not required to provide silencers of internal combustion engines, exhaust gas boilers, smoke stacks of boilers and incinerators with extra fire extinguishing system (Table 3.1.2.1, item 11); provisions of Section 3.12 "Fixed Local Application Fire Extinguishing Systems for Use in Machinery Spaces" shall not be applied to fishing vessels (para 3.12.1).
The requirements of Part XI "Electrical Equipment" have been specified relating to possibility to use shaft generators within the frequency range 50/60 Hz as one of the independently driven generators.
These amendments will be introduced into the 2019 edition of the Rules for the Classification and Construction of Sea-Going Ships. The requirements may be also applied to fishing vessels under construction.
