ABS Nautical Systems 2018 User Conference starts in New Orleans, Louisiana
The annual global ABS Nautical Systems (NS) User Conference kicked off in New Orleans, Louisiana where over 100 guests in attendance gathered to learn how NS is leading the digital future with new features and mobile applications that streamline workflow and deliver real-time decision making, ABS said in its press release.
Howard Fireman, ABS Chief Digital Officer and President of Nautical Systems, opened up the general session with updates on the ABS Digital journey: “We are committed to transforming our business and improving our client’s experience with new capabilities in data science and analytics,” Fireman said. “Nautical Systems is foundational to this transformation.”

Howard also shared progress on the ABS Freedom project, an internal workflow system that will provide a unified and simplified platform for clients to interface with ABS engineers and surveyors. Howard emphasized how NS offers clients a more effective way to gain insights on business performance and is a trusted data source for the ABS data analytics platform.
Stephen Schwarz, Vice President and COO of Nautical Systems, picked up where Howard left off and focused on the NS digital vision: “NS is evolving from a transaction management tool into a business management system that integrates operational, transaction and commercial data and delivers business intelligence tools that offer real business insights.”
Schwarz reviewed the NS roadmap and 2020 vision, highlighting recent milestone improvements made to Asset Management, Compliance Management, Workforce Management and Performance Management. Schwarz also addressed the status of new solutions including Knowledge Management, Financial Management and Commercial Management.
ABS NS Global Customer Support manager Brandy Whitehurst and Director of Product Management John Hathaway discussed how NS is focused on improving the software through usability and design. They reviewed enhancements and updates to the Autologger Software and gave live demos of NS Vessel, NS Insight, Smart Procurement, Voyage Manager, Questionnaires and Custom Forms.
The general session concluded with a presentation from Kris Vedat, Head of IT for Topaz Energy and Marine, on the Topaz digital journey and how NS Enterprise is a key enabler.
