In January-November 2018, seaport of Azov handled 12.282 million tonnes of cargo (+20%, year-on-year), says IAA PortNews correspondent.
According to the stevedoring companies’ statistics, internal turnover of Azov seaport grew by 30% to 9.978 million tonnes.
Exports grew by 24% to 4.199 million tonnes, import – by 13% to 361,000 tonnes, short-sea traffic – by 37% to 5.419 million tonnes. Transit fell by 10% to 2.304 million tonnes.
In the reporting period, grain transshipment grew by 33% to 8.101 million tonnes тыс. тонн, coal – by 37% to 1.171 million tonnes. Transshipment of oil products declined by 4% to 2.523 million tonnes.
Turnover of vessels at the port of Azov grew to 3,962 arrivals and 3,985 departures versus 3,629 arrivals and 3,640 departures a year ago.
Port of Azov is situated on the banks of the Don river. It is the main gateway between the Mediterranean Sea with the inland waterways of Russia and the Caspian Sea, for freight flows to the central part of Russia, the Urals and Central Asia. The boundaries of the port's basin include the River Don from the 3151.0-km stretch, the Koysug River to the receiving Buoy No 1 of Azov-Don Sea Canal, including outer anchorage No. 6 and the Calancea bayou to Dugino stop-over point.
