Gladding-Hearn built pilot boat delivered to Southwest Alaska Pilots Association
The Southwest Alaska Pilots Association (SWAPA) has taken delivery of a new pilot boat from Gladding-Hearn Shipbuilding, Duclos Corporation, Somerset, Mass. It was delivered to Fort Lauderdale, Fla. and loaded onto on a USWC-bound ship, the shipbuilding company said.
Ship main particulars: LOA: 23m, beam: 6.2m, draft: 0.94m. Aluminum Ray Hunt-designed deep-V hull.Propulsion: Cummins QSK38-M1, EPA Tier 3 diesel engines with rated power 1,400 hp at 1,800 rpm each, twin ZF-5000 gear boxes. The boat is propelled by two Hamilton HM651 waterjets. Speed: 29 knots.
