Icebreakers of FSUE Rosmorport assisted almost 3,000 ships in navigation season 2018-2019
From the beginning of the navigation season of 2018-2019, icebreakers of FSUE Rosmorport have assisted almost 3,000 ships in freezing ports of Russia, says FSUE Rosmorport.
Most of operations were performed in the Azov Basin (2,149 ships). Icebreaking assistance is also provided in the Arctic Basin: in the White Sea Rosmorport escorted 136 ships, in the Kara Sea – 18 ships, in Sabetta port - 26 ships. 411 icebreaker escort operations were performed in the Gulf of Finland (Baltic Sea).
Icebreaker assistance in the Caspian Sea is being provided by the Kapitan Chechkin, Kapitan Metsaik and Kapitan Bukayev. From the beginning of the navigation season they have escorted 201 vessels.
At the port of Magadan and in the Tatar Strait, icebreaking services are being provided by the Magadan and Novorossiysk icebreakers, 47 vessels have been escorted so far.
Rosmorport’s fleet of diesel fueled icebreakers numbers 35 ships of different capacity.
