Marine Recruiting Agency implemented more than 50 educational programmes in 2018

In 2018, Marine Recruiting Agency LLC (MRA, a company of UCL Holding) trained 1,907 blue-collar workers and implemented more than 50 educational programmes, MRA says in a press release.

Among the most popular courses were “Dock engineer, slingsman” selected by 491 people, “mooring man” - 144 people and “crane operator” - 141 people.

Specialization in operating port and road-building vehicles was also in high demand. 652 people were trained as off-road vehicle drivers, tractor operators, loader operator, reach-stacker operator, marine tractor driver, etc.

All in all, 1,528 people completed the programmes of basic professional training including 763 people who obtained new professions and 689 people who upgraded their qualification and underwent retraining. The programmes of additional professional training were selected by 379 trainees. Among the most popular courses were labour safety, fire safety basics, safe methods of working at height.

In 2018, 76 students of industry-specific schools of higher and vocational education were trained by MRA as tallymen. MRA had tailored special courses for the students of Makarov State University of Maritime and Inland Shipping, Sea Technical College and Saint-Petersburg Sea Fishing College taking into consideration their students’ basic knowledge needed for obtaining of new jobs.

Last year MRA expanded its geographic footprint: employees of MRA Training Center implemented educational projects in Kazakhstan and Estonia involving local employment centres. Special training courses were developed by MRA for retraining of port workers their. 

In 2018, Marine Recruiting Agency introduced a new software package for distance training. The Agency’s software system is a server product offering materials for theoretical classes covering labour/industrial safety and safety of working at height, first aid, firefighting and port professions training (dock engineer, slingsman, talliman). The new system lets MRA clients arrange distant  training and certification of their employees having selected courses, training periods and duration on their own. This approach enables MRA partners reduce their expenses for personnel training.

Marine Recruiting Agency LLC is a recruiting company representing interests of transport logistic, construction and other companies of North-Western region in sphere of recruiting, training and provision of temporary personnel. MRA was established in 2001 and is a subsidiary AO Sea Port of Saint-Petersburg. From 2016 the company is accredited by Federal Service on Labour and Employment for performing the activities related to provision of personnel. 

The Agency has its own Training Centre with its own technical infrastructure. Its functions are primary training, re-qualification and advanced training on the basis of various educational programmes.

Sea Port of Saint-Petersburg JSC (a company of UCL Port – stevedoring division of the International Transportation Group UCL Holding) is the largest operator, rendering services on handling of all types of dry cargoes at Big Port St. Petersburg. It operates modern multipurpose specialized terminals for handling of general and bulk cargoes and specialized terminals for ro-ro cargoes and containers.
