In January 2019, the port of Kaliningrad handled 1,026,000 tonnes of cargo, down 17%, year-on-year, says Baltic Sea Ports Administration.
Transshipment of dry bulk cargo dropped by 17% to 150,100 tonnes including 114,900 tonnes of coal (+24%) and 9,200 tonnes of mineral fertilizers and 29,500 tonnes of other cargoes (-66%).
Transshipment of dry loose cargo declined by 3% to 365,500 tonnes, general cargo – by 8% to 108,700 tonnes.
The port also handled 71,700 tonnes of cargo carried by ferries (-56%) and 225,500 tonnes of liquid bulk cargo (-31%) including 72,500 tonnes of oil products (-63%), 53,200 tonnes of crude oil (-1%) and 97,700 tonnes of food cargo (+36%).
The port’s container throughput grew by 48%, year-on-year, to 22,631 TEUs.
