In January 2019, seaports of Ukraine handled 11.9 million tonnes of cargo, up 3.4%, year-on-year, says press center of Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority.
According to the statement, the growth was mainly driven by 12-pct increase of exports (by 1 million tonnes) while import and transit dropped by 23.3% (almost 500,000 tonnes) and 12.5% (over 100,000 tonnes) accordingly.
Transshipment of grain and ore grew by over 21% (by 665,000 and 406,000 tonnes accordingly)
Container throughput in seaports of Ukraine grew by 34% (almost 20,000 TEUs).
From the beginning of 2019, seaports of Ukraine handled 856 vessels (57 units less, year-on-year).
Passenger turnover totaled 2,460, a slight increase, year-on-year.
