Yesterday the three shipyards MEYER WERFT, NEPTUN WERFT and MEYER TURKU as well as the Meyer Group honoured their best suppliers with the “Partner of the Year 2018” award in Papenburg, Meyer Turku says in a press release.
This year Meyer Werft hosted the event and invited the group’s suppliers to a place where history is alive: the “Alte Werft” in Papenburg. At this location in Papenburg’s city center, MEYER WERFT was founded in 1795. The guests from Germany and abroad experienced a fascinating combination of modern presentations and a historic setting.
The annual awarding is based on regularly conducted supplier assessments. These are not only based on each ship built but rather on the suppliers’ overall annual performance. The following suppliers have been awarded for their outstanding performances:
MEYER WERFT: Wocken Industriepartner GmbH &.Co KG
MEYER TURKU: Orsap Oy
NEPTUN WERFT: Potocco Spa
MEYER Group: Marine Service GmbH
All laureates emphasized the positive and partnership-based cooperation between suppliers and shipyards in their acceptance speeches. It is important that both sides continue to check their performance and to learn from each other in order to further successfully manage projects.
The managing directors Bernard Meyer, Tim Meyer, Dr. Jan Meyer and Thomas Weigend informed about the current market situation in the cruise industry. After that Klaus Lübbers (Chief Procurement Officer MEYER Group) pointed out the importance of a supportive cooperation for future challenges. Dominik Sandmann (Head of Procurement department Plants and Systems MEYER TURKU) introduced the new risk based supplier management. This was followed by “best practice” examples by suppliers which have developed even greater optimization potential during workshops with MEYER WERFT.
More than 200 guests attended the awarding ceremony.
