Shipbuilding, Ship Repair Corporation lays keel of a Project 4395 dredger to be operated in Kama River basin
Gorodets, Nizhny Novgorod Region based Shipbuilding, Ship Repair Corporation PAO on August 13 hosted the keel laying ceremony for a non-self-propelled suction dredger of Project 4395 to the class of Russian River Register (RRR) “X O 2.0 (Ice 10) A”, Rosmorrechflot said.
The dredger will be built as part of the Maritime and Inland Transport Subprogramme of the State Program of the Russian Federation “Development of the Transport system”. The dredger was ordered by the Federal State Institution RechVodput for the FSI Authority of the Kama Basin of Inland Waterways.
The dredger is scheduled for completion and delivery in 2021.
The dredgers with a capacity of 700 cbm/h will have a removable set of cutting devices. The vessel is designed for dredging sand, silt, sand and gravel mix, maintenance dredging in harbour basins and access channels and fairways, or for filling dams. Dredged material can be discharged onto split-hopper barges, or through a 500-m long floating pipeline to shore.
Key particulars: length: 54 m; beam: 10.5 m; draft fully laden: 1.3 m; dredging depth - 10 m; crew - 28, endurance - 20 days.
The new dredger is necessary for the Authority of Kama inland waterways basin to perform maintenance dredging in Belaya River. During the 2017 navigation season on the Belaya River, Ufa Oil Refinery resumed transportation of oil products. The volume totaled 950 tonnes in 2017, 1.5 million tonnes - in 2018. In the 2019/2020 navigation season the products traffic is expected to increase to 2 million tonnes.
To ensure smooth and safe shipping of the above volumes of products, the Authority of Kama Basin needs to increase the design depths on the Belaya River from 180 cm to 200 cm by 2020.
To maintain the depth at 200 cm of the inland waterway, annual dredging is required in the volume of 1.5-1.8 million cbm of dredged material. The average age of existing dredgers exceeds 35 years and their maximum productivity is 1.2 million cbm.
The new dredger, Rosmorrechflot said, will help solve the problem and increase inland water transport in the basin.
