At the Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok, Vostochny Port JSC signed a memorandum on joining ‘Digital Transport and Logistics’ Association (DTLA), the company says in a press release. DTLA is the competency centre for the namesake project by the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation.
The purpose of DTLA is to create and develop a digital space for multimodal transport and logistics in Russia with the most extensive involvement of synchronized digital services and software of Russian companies.
Aleksey Semyonov, Deputy Minister of Transport, emphasized that having joined DTL, Vostochny Port ensures participation of leaders representing all types of transport in digital transportation of the industry. “Cargo owners and consignees, transport and logistic companies need a comprehensive multimodality , multiplatformity and digital services ensuring legal value of the entire transportation process data. In this context, Vostochny Port has key competence and global experience”, explained the official.
According to Vadim Baibak, General Director of Vostochny Port, the company currently undertakes proactive efforts on digitalization which is essential for a high business performance. “In particular, a significant task is to ensure visualization and integration of technological processes involving the railway and the port within a single information space. Having joining the Association, Russia’s largest hi-tech coal handling stevedoring company will be able to make a substantial contribution to transportation of Russia’s transport system through application of practical experience accumulated by the company in the field of digital technologies”, said Vadim Baibak.
‘Digital Transport and Logistics’ Association was established in 2018 under the auspices of RF Transport Ministry by Russian Railways OJSC, Aeroflot – Russian Airlines PJSC, FSUE “ZaschitaInfoTrans”, LLC “RT-Invest Transportation Systems», LLC “GLOSAV” and NPP “Digital Radiotech Systems”. At Saint Petersburg Economic Forum 2019, a number of companies announced their plans to join the Association, including JSC «Company TransTeleCom», NLMK Group, FSUE “Russian Post”, FSUE «State Air Traffic Management Corporation».
Vostochny Port JSC (Vrangel settlement, Primorsky Region) is Russia’s largest specialized terminal with high-tech coal transshipment.
Vostochny Port is a free access facility open for all coal manufacturers of Russia. In 2018, it handled 24.3 million tonnes of cargo.
The terminal features covered stations for unloading and transfer of coal, conveyor equipment, rotary car dumpers, shiploaders and the second-to-none system of multi-stage magnetic coal separation.
Vostochny Port is the first coal port in the Far East that obtained a certificate of compliance with ISO 14001:2015 “Environmental Management System: Requirements and Application Guide.” The certificate confirms the company’s compliance with both Russian and international requirements on environmental risk management.
Vostochny Port has implemented the most ambitious private investment project on construction of the coal terminal’s Phase 3 including the construction of the federal railway infrastructure. The project costing over RUB 40 billion was implemented through public private partnership without involving state financing. Phase 3 will let the terminal increase its throughput to 50-55 million tonnes per year.
