In the framework of state contracts with the Defence Ministry of Russian Federation, Oboronlogistics vessels performed 11 trips to Arctic and the Novaya Zemlya archipelago and delivered about 30 thousand tons of various military cargo and cargo of the Military construction complex of the Russian defense Ministry, Oboronlogistics says in a press release. Last year, the volume of cargo transportation to the Arctic in the interests of the military Department amounted to 11 thousand tons.
The main ports of loading for the delivery of goods to the Arctic are Murmansk, Arkhangelsk, Vladivostok, Vanino, Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky. On the Arctic Islands unloading operations are carried out on an unequipped shore using raid boats.
More than 3 thousand tons of scrap metal and obsolete equipment were also exported from Kotelny island and from the Novaya Zemlya archipelago. The export of 180 tons from Wrangel island is being completed.
By order of the Government of the Russian Federation Oboronlogistics is defined the only executor of the works and services carried out by the Ministry of defense of Russia in 2019 and 2020, related to delivery of cargo in the Arctic zone of the Russian Federation and the Far Eastern region.
Through the implementation of the functions of a single transport and logistics operator Oboronlogistics solves the problem of combining on the same vessels of goods delivered in the interests of various bodies of the military Department and organizations of the Military construction complex of the Russian defense Ministry, which provides a significant reduction in budget expenditures.
