Bremenports launches campaign in the port Hinterland

The ports of Bremen are intensifying their lobbying activities in the west and south of Germany, the company said in its release. The port management company bremenports has signed contracts with two new representatives who are to promote Bremen’s interests in these important destination regions for the ports. The new representatives, Hartwig Weidt and Christoph Kernen, introduced themselves at an event hosted by Bremen’s Port Promotion Agency at its “Hafenclub” on Tuesday evening.

Bremen’s government, the Senate, has entrusted bremenports with marketing the ports of Bremen, and one aspect of the current marketing concept is to intensify activities in the hinterland. To date, representatives have been appointed in Vienna and Prague to canvass business for the ports of Bremen in Austria and the Czech Republic. As from now, the new representatives will also develop the important markets in North Rhine-Westphalia and Baden-Württemberg on behalf of bremenports.

The representatives’ job is to stay in contact with shippers, rail operators, professional associations and terminals, to give presentations at vocational colleges and other educational institutes, take part in panel discussions in the region and assist bremenports with the organisation of events for customers.

The target is to help to generate new cargo flows for the ports, to safeguard the present cargo volumes and to observe the activities of the other ports in order to identify new trends at an early stage.
