In January-October 2019, the port of Kaliningrad handled 9,340,400 tonnes of cargo, down 21%, year-on-year, says Baltic Sea Ports Administration.
Transshipment of dry bulk cargo dropped by 33% to 1,335,000 tonnes including 745,600 tonnes of coal (-21%), 4,200 tonnes of mineral fertilizers (-32%) and 565,300 tonnes of other cargoes (-45%).
Transshipment of dry bulk cargo declined by 14% to 3,127,500 tonnes, general cargo – by 27% to 1,077,800 tonnes.
The port also handled 604,800 tonnes of cargo carried by ferries (-34%) and 2,001,800 tonnes of liquid bulk cargo (-28%) including 813,400 tonnes of oil products (-51%), 461,100 tonnes of crude oil (-1%) and 673,100 tonnes of food cargo (+9%).
The port’s container throughput grew by 246%, year-on-year, to 276,299 TEUs.
