Transmashholding CJSC to build two marine engines for Vinashin shipyard

Transmashholding CJSC will build two marine engines by the end of 2006 for Vinashin shipyard (Vietnam). The ДБ62 (6S50MC according to MAN B&W) engines are to be built by Briansk machine building plant (part of holding). This information has been provided by TMH’s PR Department according to shipbuilding.ru. The engines are to be delivered under the contract between Transmashholding CJSC and Vinashin having signed in the second quarter of 2006. It is to become the first delivery of marine engines manufactured by BMBP to VIetnam.  According to the contract, Vinashin is to take delivery of 5 more marine engines in 2007. Capacity of one engine is 12 thou 900 h.p. They may be installed on vessels ranging in size from 40,000 to 50,000 deadweight tons – both oil carriers and bulkers.

Transmashholding CJSC is the largest company in the Russian transport machine building industry. Its companies manufacture diesel-locomotive shunters, electric locomotives, passenger and freight cars, locomotive and marine diesels, switch assemblies, track-repair equipment, car castings and other products. The company’s share in Russia’s production of locomotives is 85%, passenger cars - 92%, electric trains - 75%. The holding comprises leading companies of transport machine building industry.
