OMTP (the Ukraine) cargo transhipment down 22.3%, Jan.-Oct. 2009

Volume of cargo transhipped by GP Odessa Commercial Seaport (OMTP, the Ukraine) decreased by 22.3% (to 22.581 mln tons) within ten months current year as compared to the corresponding period of 2008, says the data provided by the port’s press-service. Box turnover of the enterprise decreased by 43% (to 207,361 TEU) within the reporting period.

Volume of dry cargo transhipped by the port increased by 0.4% in October, 2009 against the same month 2008. AS per October 2009 results, the decrease of liquid cargo transhipped amounted to 62.5% as compare to October 2008. OMTP box turnover amounted to 22, 930 TEU in October 2009 which is 61% less than the 2008 figures.


GP Odessa Commercial Seaport is one of the largest ports of the Black-Azov Sea basin. Technical facilities of the port allow processing more than 14 million tons of dry cargoes and 14 million tons of liquid cargoes annually. OMTP cargo turnover amounted to 34.5 mln tons in 2008.
