Shipment of rolled metal products via industrial port of Severstal’s division Sevestal Russian Steel went up by 90% (to 1.939 mln tons) in 2009. As PortNews IAA learnt from the company’s press-service, over 63% of export was dispatched to the clients in the local markets of St.-Petersburg (the rest volume was shipped via south ports of Rostov and Astrakhan) with most of it transhipped via marine terminals of Neva-Metal, a stevedoring company of the Big Port of St.-Petersburg (it is a part of the division). At the same time the volumes of ferrous metals transhipped via Neva-Metal marine terminals increased by 12% against 2008 figure. Such a result is due to timely cargoes handling and following the shipment schedules.
Severstal Russian Steel – division of Severstal OJSC – is one of the largest manufactures of steel in Russia. In the first half 2009 company’s income amounted to USD 2,497 mln, EBITDA - USD330 mln. The enterprise is referred to as one of the world’s most efficient manufacturer. The division comprises 6 segments: steel, sales, metal goods, pipes, service and scrap metal preparation.
Neva-Metal CJSC is a part of Severstal Russian Steel division. Its berths located in the third area of the Big Port of St.-Petersburg are used for transhipment of ferrous-metals produced by CherMK Severstal and for operations with containerized cargoes. Overall transhipment volume exceeded 1 mn tons within 6 months 2009.
