Russia’s oil and gas industry may expect a rise in 2010. In January this year, oil production increased by 1.2 million tons, exceeding last year’s reporting period by 2.8%. Gas production also rose by 8.9 billion cubic meters, up 16.1% from January 2009, the Kremlin press service reports quoting Deputy Prime Minister Igor Sechin at his meeting with Russia’s President Dmitry Medvedev.
"This year, if everything goes according to our plan, we might expect the production rate at some 495-496 million tons of oil. We believe it to be quite a stable forecast", Igor Sechin said.
