Russian Govt establishes Vanino port boundaries

Prime Minister Vladimir Putin signed a decree on February 27, 2010 (N234-p) establishing the boundaries of the sea port of Vanino (Khabarovsk Territory). The port boundaries now include 4 onshore areas and 2 harborage areas.

Port of Vanino is the largest transport hub in the Khabarovsk Territory. It is located on the northwest shore of the Bay of Vanino in the Tatar Strait and is the endpoint of the Baikal-Amur Railway. The port remains navigable all year round. From January to March icebreakers provide pilotage service for ships calling at the port.

The port transships cargoes transported to the Russian North, handles outbound and inbound commodities shipped to / from Japan, Australia, the USA, Korea, China, etc. Port Vanino OJSC is the major stevedoring company operating in the port. The Company’s throughput in 2009 reached 6 million tons of handled commodities.
